DENVER - The Governor’s Office of Information Technology (OIT) announced today that Jill Fraser will serve as the State of Colorado’s next Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).

"I am thrilled to have Jill on the team. As we continue to see the ingenuity of those who strive to cause harm by stealing people’s data, her expertise is just what is needed to protect state systems further," stated David Edinger, Chief Information Officer & Executive Director. "Additionally, Jill is a fair, transparent and inclusive leader who builds on the strengths of those around her."

Before joining OIT, Jill served as the Chief Information Security Officer for Jefferson County for nearly 11 years. She was responsible for developing a unified security program within an otherwise decentralized IT structure. She guided Jefferson County to an organization that culturally embraced security as a part of every employee's responsibility. Along the way, Jill helped to raise awareness of the difficulties faced by Colorado’s local governments in developing and maintaining their own security programs and was instrumental in creating Colorado’s Whole of State program in 2018.

"Just as car technology requires changing oil, replacing tires, etc. to ensure the life, health and safety of the vehicle, electronic technology also requires maintenance to protect state systems and data," explained Fraser. "Security is a part of everyone’s job, and cross-agency collaboration on our collective problems will ensure we move forward together and become a stronger, more secure Colorado."

Jill holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hanover College and is a Certified CISO (C|CISO) and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
