Alert: BlackCat Ransomware Impacts Fremont County Systems

Cañon City, CO - In collaboration with county, state and federal partners, the Governor’s Office of Information (OIT) has determined through its investigation that the recent cybersecurity event impacting Fremont County systems was the result of BlackCat ransomware, also known as ALPHV. Fremont County incident response efforts remain in full effect and significant progress has been made.

Governor Dianne Primavera joined Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Commissioner Geoffrey Starks and Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser at an event hosted and led by the Denver Housing Authority to increase awareness of the $14.2 billion Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) and help more than 600,000 eligible Colorado households save money on their monthly internet bills. 

State of Colorado wins two StateScoop national technology awards

DENVER – Winners of the 2022 StateScoop 50 Awards were announced at the National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) Midyear Conference, and the State of Colorado was honored in two categories. Governor’s Office of Information Technology (OIT) Deputy Chief Customer Officer Natriece Bryant won State Leadership of the Year and OIT’s Technology Accessibility Program, led by Solutions Architect of Accessibility Theresa Montano and Senior Solution Engineer of Accessibility Laurie Kubitz, won State IT Innovation of the Year.

Ray Yepes Appointed New State of Colorado Chief Information Security Officer

DENVER - The Governor’s Office of Information Technology (OIT) announced today that Ray Yepes will serve as the State of Colorado’s next Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). After a nationwide search, Yepes rose to the top of an impressive candidate pool due to his rich background working in private industry and serving for five years as CISO for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, a 15,000-employee agency in the Lone Star State.
