Completed project saves taxpayers nearly $2 million/See What’s Next
The state is always striving to be good stewards of taxpayers’ dollars. With that in mind, OIT discovered that significant cost savings could be achieved by consolidating hardware from the leased eFORT data center into the newly modernized state-owned data center.
Starting in 2022, OIT initiated this project that would move physical and virtual equipment for 26 state agencies. Every move, or migration, had to occur on a Friday night into Saturday morning, while teams executed complex tasks while minimizing outages.
This gargantuan three-year effort was successfully completed in 2025 with the support of over 300 OIT staff members who invested more than 19,000 hours to complete the work.
The project saves Colorado taxpayers money by eliminating the third-party lease of eFORT, one of the most expensive capital leases in the State’s budget at over $1.5 million annually!
