Teams complete statewide phone upgrade/ What New Phones Have To Do With 911 Laws
A new statewide phone system for agencies provides improved service and efficiency, but one thing that might not immediately come to mind is 911 laws.
Our phone system now features a strengthened emergency response capability to meet the requirements of Kari’s Law and Section 506 of RAY BAUM’S Act. This means if anyone uses a state agency phone to call 911, they are not required to dial an outside line first, typically required with multi-line telephone systems found in office buildings or workplaces. This extends to desk phones, call centers, or computers used to make calls, known as “softphones.”
From downtown Denver to Barr Lake, this statewide project spanned 20 State departments and offices, upgrading approximately 13,000 users.
