Community Steering Committee (CSC) Members

CSC member requirements
- A year-long commitment (estimated timeframe - September 2025 - September 2026)
- Up to 80 hours of allocated time per month of dedicated CSC work to be shared across all members, which can include but is not limited to:
- Monthly open office hour meetings
- Developing user stories
- Lived Experiences Library engagements and demonstrations
- Participation in focus group feedback on specific websites, applications and services
- Panel discussions
- Advising on accessibility, equity and inclusion of new technologies
- Open labs
- Surveys
- Newsletter articles
- Access to WiFi and the ability to join virtual meetings using a device (e.g., cell phone, tablet, laptop, desktop computer)
- Availability for meetings during working hours (working hours are defined as 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.) - plenty of notice will be given prior to scheduling meetings to ensure the majority of the CSC can attend
Responsibilities
- Recommend programs, guidelines and activities that promote accessible and equitable outcomes for the greater Colorado community;
- Recommend programs, guidelines and activities designed to promote the full acceptance of all people in all aspects of community life, without regard to race, religion, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, immigration status, citizenship, color, ethnicity, or national origin, ancestry, socioeconomic status, income or other protected categories or personal characteristics; and
- Recommend programs, guidelines and activities designed to reduce discrimination, increase cultural competency, improve intergroup relations, and promote civil and human rights for all; and
- Identify, track and report on existing and emerging related issues stemming from complaints from residents and visitors concerning interactions with State of Colorado services, websites and applications
- Share stories of personal experiences with OIT services to help inform a continuum of accessibility and equity maturity - stories help to build empathy within others
What we are providing to the CSC
- Compensation for their time
- $35/hour. Alternative arrangements can be made for a member(s) that cannot accept payment (e.g., gift cards)
- Consistent, transparent and informed communication about their responsibilities and desired outcomes for the first year of the Empathy Lab
- Actionable results based on CSC feedback
- Provide guidance to inform IT strategic direction at the state and local level
What the CSC is not
- Does not exercise any control over OIT’s daily operations
- Is not a voting body
- Does not advise on policy
